A playful but refined boys' room in a Park Slope brownstone — full of character today, and built to grow with him tomorrow.
A Park Slope family wanted a bedroom their young son would love the day it was finished, and still love as he grew into it — playful and full of personality, but never babyish or destined to be outgrown in a year.
Like many brownstone bedrooms, the space had to do a lot with a little — real storage for toys and clothes, a proper place to sleep, and room to play — all while staying calm enough for bedtime and fun enough for a seven-year-old.
Every room begins with a mood board, and this one was no exception — it set the tone for a characterful but restrained palette long before a single piece was built. From there came a custom bed sized to the room, clever built-in storage tucked into every spare inch, and durable, tactile materials that could take a childhood's worth of use without losing their warmth.
The finished room is hardworking and full of personality — a space that feels distinctly his, with real staying power as his tastes change. Fun without being fleeting, and calm enough for a good night's sleep.

“Terrific to work with from beginning to end — she completely understood what we wanted for our family.”Milana V. · Client
