A living room in a quiet shade of blue — soft, sunlit, and built entirely around how this family actually spends its evenings.
The clients wanted one room to get right: the place they land at the end of the day. It had to seat the whole family comfortably, take real use without looking worn, and feel calm the moment you walk in — no ceremony, no untouchable furniture.
A classic prewar proportion: generous length, limited width, and windows at one end doing all the work. Seating had to face the room rather than the wall, and the palette had to hold together in bright afternoon sun and lamplight alike.
A deep, soft blue sofa sets the tone and anchors the long wall. Around it we layered materials rather than colours — a bouclé swivel chair in warm brown, oak and travertine on the low tables, a sculptural ceramic lamp, linen cushions in shifting blues. A pair of round marble tables replaces a single coffee table so the room can be rearranged in seconds.
The room reads as one composition from the doorway and works from every seat inside it. It is restful without being precious — the kind of space that looks composed in photographs and, more importantly, gets lived in every night.
